Visit to Sallente demonstrator (FLEXHYBAT project)

Our team has recently visited Endesa’s Sallente power plant, a demonstrator within the FLEXHYBAT project. The project, undertaken by CDIF-UPC, LEMUR-UOV and EPIC-UPC, focuses on the hybridisation of hydropower-generating units to improve the grid’s stability and control, which can be affected by the unpredictability of new renewable energies. Also, the purpose of hybridisation is to contribute to increase the RUL of the units’ hydromechanical components.

To that end, the object of this visit was the demonstrator’s instrumentalisation as part of Work Package 2, Analysis of the electrical grid, energy storage connection topologies and ancillary services requirements.
