STOR-HY Consortium gathers at UPC for 5th Meeting & Technical Colloquium

On October 8^th and 9^th, CDIF-UPC hosted the fifth STOR-HY Consortium Meeting in Barcelona. All project partners gathered at UPC Campus Nord to review progress across its nine Work Packages.

A highlight was Thursday evening’s open colloquium “Technical, Environmental and Societal Challenges of Hydro Pumped Storage in the 21st Century”. The session opened with presentations on prominent pumped storage projects in Spain: Dehesa de los Ganaderos (Mr. Manuel Omedas, PROYECTOS HIDRAULICOS Y ENERGETICOS SL); Moralets II (Mr. David Escobar, Enel Green Power); and La Baells (Mr. Manuel Allo, VERBUND).

Their talks were followed by industry perspectives with contributions from turbine manufacturers ANDRITZ Hydro (Mr. Martin Gattringer) and GE Renewable Energy (Mr. Patrick Boissonneau), as well as an open discussion with questions from the public, moderated by Prof. Alexandre Presas and Mr. Ricard Subirà (Sener).
