CDIF at Harnessing Hydropower’s Energy Storage and Flexibility for the Energy Transition seminar and STOR-HY’s 3rd Consortium meeting in Sion

Both events took place at the Campus Energypolis (HESSO Valais-Wallis)
Last week, part of the CDIF team attended the 3rd Consortium meeting for STOR-HY in Sion (Switzerland), that was hosted by HES-SO Valais-Wallis at Campus Energypolis.
Participants attended a guided visit to the HESSO Gridlabwhich included a demonstration on intertia-less microgrids, as well as the Hydroalps lab.
In addition, CDIF Director Alexandre Presas spoke at the public seminar Harnessing Hydropower’s Energy Storage and Flexibility for the Energy Transition, together with Prof. Fabrizio Sossan, Bernard Valluy (Alpiq), Daniel Fischlin (KWO) and Prof. Cécile Munch-Alligné. The seminar was co-organised by the STOR-HY and STORE projects and tackled the role and challenges of hydropower in the energy transition.
The presentations were followed by a table discussion with representatives from operators and manufacturers Andritz, EDF, EDP, GE Vernova and SENER, in which they exchanged insights and addressed the students attending the seminar with regard to the future of hydropower engineering.
